HELPING YOUNG ADULTS AND TEENS BECOME

Integral to fostering children as productive members of society is providing a place for them to learn skills and earn money from the work they do. Young adults and teens working at the farm earn wages and contribute to producing the daily food needs of the village. This helps them become more responsible, independent, and self-reliant individuals.

Alice Waters

“Teaching kids how to feed themselves and how to live in a community responsibly is the center of an education.”

Farm Features

A relatively recent addition to the school program, The Farm is the place for our students to learn about vegetable farming, animal husbandry, and aquaphonics.

Fresh produce from the farm is turned over to the Javier Nutrition Center and used in the residents’ daily meals and guest parties.

Pineapple Plantation

Provides sweet fruits not only for the consumption of the residents but also for the cows raised on the farm.

Small & Large Barns

Houses and protects pigs, cows, sheep, goats, and future donkeys from extreme weather conditions.

Aquaponics

It combines hydroponics and aquaculture to grow lettuce, basil, strawberries, kangkong (water spinach), and tilapia.
